Summary

This bill would require the Parks Department (DPR), along with the Departments of Health and Mental Hygiene, Environmental Protection, Transportation and the Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability to conduct a study and pilot program concerning the use and installation of cool pavement materials on DPR property within, abutting, or directly adjacent to a playground, in at least 1 heat vulnerable community in each borough. DPR would be required to post the results of the pilot on its website and submit it to the Mayor and the Speaker of the Council no later than February 1, 2031.
