This bill would require the department of correction to provide training to all correction officers on the proper use of opioid antagonists and to make such training available to incarcerated individuals. The department would be required to make opioid antagonists available in all areas where incarcerated individuals are housed and make opioid antagonist kits available to individuals upon discharge from DOC custody. The bill would also require the Department to post a report on the number and percentage of uniformed staff members that have been trained on administering opioid antagonists, the number of times uniformed staff administered opioid antagonists in response to a suspected overdose, and the number of suspected nonfatal opioid overdose events.
