Summary
The proposed legislation would make the existence of peeling lead-based paint in any common area of a multiple dwelling where a child under the age of six resides a class C immediately hazardous violation and would require property owners to inspect the common areas of multiple dwellings for lead-based paint hazards. The legislation would also require department inspectors to inspect common areas along their path of travel for lead-based paint hazards on their way to inspecting a dwelling unit in an apartment constructed prior to 1960 where a child under the age of six resides.
