A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to increasing the maximum income level qualifying for exemption from rent increases granted to certain senior citizens and persons with disabilities

Summary

This bill would increase the maximum income level for eligibility for the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption program and the Disability Rent Increase Exemption program to $75,000 beginning July 1, 2026. This bill would apply retroactively to July 1, 2026 and would expire on June 30, 2028.
