A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to prohibiting city agencies from procuring eggs laid by hens for human consumption that are not organic or free-range

Summary

This bill would prohibit all City agencies from entering into contracts to purchase eggs laid by hens for human consumption that are not organically produced and free-range. This bill would not apply to contracts for the purchase of prepared foods that contain eggs. This bill would also not apply to contracts for egg purchases that are necessary for the protection of public health and safety, that are related to emergencies, or that predate the bill’s effective date.
