A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to mental health protocols for pregnant and postpartum individuals in the custody of the department of correction

Summary

This bill would require the Department of Correction, in coordination with Correctional Health Services, to establish and maintain written protocols related to the identification, screening, referral, monitoring, and follow-up care of pregnant or postpartum individuals with mental health needs. After these written protocols are established or revised, they must be publicly on the department’s website and made available to all staff involved in the care of pregnant or postpartum individuals.
