A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the distribution of information about student transfer rights

Summary

This bill would amend the administrative code, requiring the Department of Education (DOE) to maintain on its website a page dedicated to informing students, including charter students, and their families about their rights as they relate to transferring schools. The bill would also require DOE to make the transfer rights information available in various languages, and to make the information available at its family welcome centers. The bill would also require DOE to distribute the information to schools, elected officials, and other community and parent groups upon request.
