Summary

This bill would authorize Housing Preservation and Development (“HPD”) and the Fire Department (“FDNY”) to inspect buildings for required physical street numbers during their routine inspections of buildings. If either agency finds that the building is noncompliant, the agency may take enforcement actions consistent with the rules and regulations established by DCP. If an individual complains to 311 that a building does not have a street number displayed, either HPD or FDNY would be required to proactively inspect the building mentioned in the complaint.
