Summary

This bill would require agencies that issue vacate orders—specifically, Department of Buildings (DOB), Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and New York City Fire Department (FDNY) — to provide documentation about vacate orders, including the reason for an order and the date it was issued, to affected occupants upon request. Occupants who were required to leave a building due to a vacate order would be allowed to submit a request for documentation online and by mail to the agency that issued the order, and the agency would be required to provide the requested documentation within 14 days of receipt of the request.
