Summary

This bill would require the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) to establish, within two years of the bill’s effective date and every year annually thereafter, at least one additional intake center for families with children in a borough that does not have an existing family intake center. The additional intake centers would be required to be located in a geographic area that is easily accessible and in close proximity to public transportation. DHS would not have to open any additional family intake centers so long as it maintains at least one operational intake center in each borough.
