Summary

This bill would require the Commissioner of Consumer and Worker Protection to develop and conduct ongoing outreach and education to raise awareness of deceptive and unconscionable trade practices involving cryptocurrency and other digital assets. These efforts would include an overview of common deceptive and unconscionable trade practices, detection strategies, reporting procedures, and legal protections. Programs for the general public, young people, seniors, and documented and undocumented immigrants would be implemented. Outreach and education materials would be produced in English and New York City’s designated citywide languages and made available online. The Commissioner would focus outreach and education efforts during the month of October and update the programs and materials annually.
