Summary

This bill would require the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to retrieve previously unreported sexual offense evidence collection kits from their storage location within 7 days of a survivor providing consent for such retrieval. This bill would also require NYPD to report annually on the timeframe between receiving a survivor’s consent for the retrieval of a sexual offense evidence kit and the NYPD’s retrieval of such kit.
