Summary

This bill would require the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) to report on the feasibility of contracting with community-based organizations to accept and process applications for shelter intake for families with children. The commissioner of homeless services would be required to deliver the report to the mayor and speaker of the council no later than 1 year after this bill’s effective date. This bill would require DHS to identify potential barriers to implementing such contracts, as well as related training requirements, cost estimates, necessary information technology, confidentiality and data privacy issues, and to estimate a timeline for delivery of services under such contracts.
