Summary

This bill would require the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, in consultation with the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, to establish and implement an outreach and education program publicizing the danger and threat of voice-cloning phone scams, whereby scammers call a targeted victim using voice-cloning technology to replicate an individual’s voice, in an attempt to fraudulently obtain personal information or money from the targeted victim, who is typically a family member or friend of the individual whose voice has been replicated.
