Summary

This bill would require the agency administering IDNYC, currently the Department of Social Services, in coordination with the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, to implement various changes to improve the New York City Identity Card (IDNYC) application process. These changes include: (1) developing a bi-annual training program for IDNYC workers on the application process; (2) provide for adequate in-person application appointments to match demand for IDNYC cards; (3) permit same day and walk-in appointments at IDNYC service enrollment centers; and (4) provide an appeals system for applicants who have been denied an IDNYC identification card.
