Summary

This bill would require the New York City Department of Education (“DOE”) to report to the Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene regarding reopening plans for each public school in the City for the 2021-22 school year, including measures planned to be taken to protect the health of students, staff, and the community against COVID-19 and planned protocols for communication with parents and the school community regarding such measures. The Commissioner would be required to review such plans and to provide feedback to DOE on the adequacy of the plans in protecting the health of students, staff, and the community, and any recommendations for modifications regarding such plans.
