A Local Law in relation to requiring the commissioner of buildings to recommend updates to the construction codes to facilitate the conversion of buildings into temporary hospitals in the event of a pandemic or other public health emergency

Summary

This bill would require the Commissioner of Buildings to submit to the Council proposed updates to the construction codes to promote the conversion of buildings into temporary hospitals during pandemics and other public health emergencies. The Commissioner of Buildings would be required to collaborate with the Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene, and would be authorized to collaborate with any other persons with relevant expertise, for the purpose of developing such proposed updates.
