Summary

This bill would require the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) to maintain a list of pediatric emergency rooms, including information about their locations and available medical services. The list would be posted on DOHMH’s website and the website of the 311 customer service center, and would be provided to callers to 311 who request information about pediatric emergency rooms. DOHMH would be required to coordinate with hospitals to provide the list to parents of infants born in the city and to provide the list to pediatricians for distribution to parents. DOHMH would also be required to provide the list to the Department of Education and child care programs to be distributed to parents and guardians of children enrolled in child care programs and grade 3-K through grade 8, at least once a year.
